The overarching goal of this program is to improve participants’ overall health and quality of life through hands-on education and skill-building centered around food, nutrition and gardening. The classes are designed to support overall health, including chronic disease prevention by increasing knowledge of nutrition and encouraging healthier eating habits, while also promoting mental wellness through engagement with gardening and cooking as therapeutic, stress-reducing activities. Additionally, the program addresses food security and affordability by teaching participants how to grow their own food and prepare cost-effective, nutritious meals. Participants will receive all food grown and prepared through this program at no cost to them. Through these experiences, participants build self-sufficiency and confidence, empowering them to make informed choices that positively impact their health, their families, and their communities.
